The IE Madeira Transmission line is the world's longest Direct Current transmission line under construction, covering 2,375 km. It has two circuits (TL1 and TL2) and crosses the Goiás and São Paulo states – all the way from Porto Velho to Araraquara. The line is built to withstand harsh geographical conditions, such as the Amazon rain forest and the Brazilian savanna (Cerrado).
