Transmission Crossing Signs

Since 1948, Tech Products, Inc. has been a part of the utility industry working with lineman, engineers and safety personnel to improve identification products. Our newest invention is the Everlast transmission crossing signs. In conjunction with several transmission companies and large utilities, we have come up with simple signals to alert helicopter pilots when a transmission line will cross and cause a hazard to himself and his crew. The importance of alerting the crew of coming hazards along the transmission line is immeasurable. It is important to use signals that are large, recognizable and easily understood. The basic two symbols will be the "X" for when the lines will be crossing and an arrow for the direction the helicopter pilot should follow to avoid potential hazards.

The contrast of the copy from the background is what will make the symbols recognizable and easily understood. Using the Everlast technology in making the crossing symbols will ensure that the copy and background will last in any environmental setting for over 40 years without any change in the contrast. Everlast is the process of injection molding the background in the first step and then molding the copy in the second. Eliminating all inks which can break down with UV light, rain, cold and other factors will add to the longevity of the copy.

The colors chosen are also important. Picking a red copy over black will be hard to read. Having a black symbol on a bold color like safety yellow will make the symbol stand out and easily read from a long distance away.
