This project signifies one of the largest single tenders in the U.S. government's recent history and shows that VRT Power excels in large, complex projects.
VRT Power recently shipped seven transformers for The Dalles Dam on the Columbia River, 2 miles from the city of The Dalles in Oregon in the northwest United States.

Gardner Zemke awarded VRT Power the contract for a total of 16 units for this project in 2016. These seven units signify the first shipment; nine additional units are to be delivered in 2018. These first seven units are comprised of: three 63MVA single phase units, three 75MVA single phase units, and one three phase 233MVA unit. All are generator step up units that are owned and operated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Both Gardner Zemke and the Army Corps of Engineers have made multiple successful plant visits throughout the manufacturing and testing processes.

VRT Power has now delivered over 30 units to the U.S. government, and this 16-unit project is considered its flagship project. Gardner Zemke is an electrical and mechanical contracting company headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with significant experience working with U.S. governmental agencies. The Dalles Dam, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was completed in 1973, and has a generation capacity of over 2,000 megawatts.
